Pointing

Pointing brick, although often overlooked in building maintenance, is an extremely important aspect of caring for your historical property. In fact, the structural integrity of your home or building may depend on it, and letting brickwork continually deteriorate can lead to problems that will likely involve expensive repairs. Renaissance knows a building that needs pointing needs it ASAP and we'll work with you to resolve your issues expediently.

Chimney Step Flashing & Counterflashing

Proper flashing around a chimney includes two layers. The first is called step flashing or base flashing: sections of L-shaped sheet metal are woven into the shingle courses and lapped up the side of the chimney. Next comes the counterflashing: a second layer of metal is embedded in the chimney mortar joints and folded down to cover the top of the step flashing. The corners are especially vulnerable. Our craftsmen carefully and skillfully craft custom counterflashing to complete a permanent and watertight condition.

Chimney Crowns

Crown repair includes sealing any cracks or crumbling areas on the crown or skyward facing surface. The crown repair products we use work wonders and can prevent cracks in your crown from growing. When professionally applied, these products provide an even, sealed surface, making old, weathered crowns effective and beautiful once more.

Chimney Caps

The cap that protects the chimney flue from rain is the flue’s only line of defense against water intrusion. Unfortunately, severe weather can cause the cap to come loose, leaving an easy-access entry point for moisture. If a missing cap is to blame for your chimney leak, you can count on Renaissance to replace it with a high-quality, attractive chimney cap.

Whether you have a single-flue chimney or a multi-flue chimney, we have a cap that’s perfect for your system — guaranteed.

Chimney Waterproofing

Masonry absorbs water, and during long sustained rains, the masonry soaks up huge amounts, manifesting as ‘leaks’ around your chimney. Waterproofing is applied with a sprayer. On the vertical walls, i.e. most of the chimney, waterproofing should be applied from bottom to top because as the waterproofing material comes out of the sprayer it runs down the chimney and gets absorbed into the chimney below the area being worked on.

Count on Renaissance for professional, skilled chimney waterproofing.

Custom Architectural Terra Cotta Repair, Restoration, and Duplication
