Rockland Psychiatric Center

Orangeburg, NY

At Renaissance, we perform both residential and commercial restorations. In everything we do, we are guided by the belief that historical buildings deserve care, respect, and stewardship.

Work Included

  • Complete restoration including roofing, gutters, and downspouts.
  • Materials used included clay tile and copper.

THE CHALLENGE

Rockland Psychiatric Center is a 100-year-old State Hospital Complex. Renaissance previously performed restoration work in 2006 on a "sister" building and was called back to complete the restoration process on the three remaining buildings.

THE RENAISSANCE SOLUTION

The Renaissance team worked with a local contractor, spent extensive time on preliminary mockups, design, layout, flashing, and installation details. We worked through the salvage process and loading/unloading complications due to it being a 10-story building. We planned for an aggressive schedule through summer 2020 amidst pandemic challenges, and we completed the project on time.

THE RESULTS

Successful salvage and installation of 220-square of original Mission-style clay tiles, complete redeck of substrate, installation of copper flashings, new Ludowici-Celadon-custom matching Mission-style clay tiles, gutters, downspouts, custom-fabricated collector heads, and integrated snow rail system.
